Christopher Daniel Bobson - Feb 9th, 2005 - January 10, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we share the Junior Opera Guild's (JOG) loss of an executive board member for the first time in its 55 year history. Our Co-President, Christopher Bobson was killed in a motorcycle accident driving to school on January 10, 2023.

Chris was an active member of JOG since 8 th  grade. During his sophomore year, he created a non-board position, titled Media Chair and was appointed Co-Vice President of Membership as a junior. This year, his last year serving JOG as a 12 th  grader, he was inducted to the position of JOG Co-President.

Chris was an actively engaged member of JOG, participating with the YPO/FGO Voice Competition, the annual YPO Gala, and our JOG annual educational service project at the Alpha Omega Church. 

      As a way of honoring Chris’s memory and his love of the YPO/FGO Voice Competition, and his service to JOG, we would like to create a recurring Voice Competition Award in his name. This is in line with his family’s wishes. This award would be in addition to $10,000 first prize award raised by JOG for each competition. 

We are appealing to our YPO family to contribute to the Christopher Bobson Award for the 2024 Voice Competition, and hopefully beyond, and appreciate any contribution we receive towards that goal. We desire to keep Christopher Bobson’s memory present to inspire future opera artists and young patrons to appreciate the opera.
